Our Story
Arithmagicians was founded by Ebrahim Tafti, a primary mathematics specialist teacher with over a decade of experience in the field. Witnessing his students struggle with mental maths fluency, Ebrahim was determined to address this challenge. Initially, Arithmagicians began as a paper-based game for use in classrooms as a means of assisting his pupils in improving their mental maths skills. However, there was recognised potential to enhance the game’s engagement for pupils and reduce workload for teachers by transitioning Arithmagicians into a web-based format.
Inspired by a fellow teacher and supported by funding from Shine Trust, Arithmagicians underwent a transformation into a captivating web-based game. The aim was to elevate pupils’ engagement and enjoyment while simultaneously strengthening their mental maths fluency.

Arithmagicians is proudly funded by the SHINE Trust, an education charity dedicated to supporting disadvantaged children in the North of England. SHINE collaborates with teachers, schools, and various organisations to help these pupils fulfil their potential.
